Version 1.9 - iPad & IA redesign
For version 1.9 I have designed their first iteration for the iPad. After several releases for the iPhone, the functionalities were so abundant that usage became complicated. The first thing that needed to be done was map all the functionalities and screens, since there was no resource up to that point with a clear overview of the application. This helped the team a lot when talking about features and discussing what new features should happen when and where.
After this overview was created I’ve started simplifying the structure. From this birds-eye view we then formulated what the (im)possibilities, desires and needs are for an iPad version. We as a team definitely did not wanted to just scale up the iphone version, like our competitors did at the time, and found that the most useful thing to do and feasable in one release cycle was to have a way to both access the menu items and at the same time have your route planning shown.
For this project I have worked at TomTom and in close collaboration with the product owner, tech leads and mobile engineers and the android ux designer. I have done:
- both UX & UI for iPhone and iPad
- organising information by creating flowcharts,
- show behavior of the design through wireframes,
- and through both low and high fidelity prototypes,
- and fast and small usability tests with these prototypes
